My goals for EME2040 this fall are to learn how to use technological resources to aid both my learning and hopefully my teaching. I'm aware of the numerous resources out there, but this class can guide me to the right ones and help me learn how to use them effectively. This practice will also give me the skills to be able to master other resources later in my career if I need to. Ideally, this will help me in my future classroom to expand my personal learning network and to understand which resources work most efficiently.
Up to this point, I've only used technological resources that I've been comfortable with, and haven't had to spend much time learning and researching the various resources out there. I've only used the technologies that were required of me in an educational setting. Within those technologies, I've only explored the features that were useful to me at that time. I'm comfortable enough with resources like the Google, Microsoft, and canvas tools, but there is always more to discover.
My personal learning network is currently very spread out through a variety of different resources. I rely on social media like Instagram and Pinterest for more interactive learning with access to many different opinions and advice. In person, I've taken the initiative to be in contact with almost all of my past teachers, and have created a support system that I can always go to for questions. Outside of that, and outside of my career goals, I have spaces and people that are supportive and access to research engines for any questions I may have that cannot be answered by my other resources.

Hey, Dahlia. I think it's very great you joined this class to better yourself, not only because it will lead you to be better in your area, but to also better yourself for the people that will be around you. It's not easy to leave your comfort zone and I'm glad you are attempting to do so.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a fan of Instagram and Pinterest. I think it's really cool and smart that you've reached out to your past teachers to extend your PLN. Thats definitely a helpful set of people to turn to with questions!
